No digital art here....this is purely tape transfers!! Alot of tape...alot of time...alot of mess LOL But totally worth it! And Thank you so much Carol your images are brilliantly gorgeous!! I also included some of my own personal imagery in creating this piece!
I am going to spend a little time today working on a new piece for my group Collage Play with Crowabout on Flickr! I can finally play again since now I have ink! Soar High!!!

Copyright 2009 Nancy Baumiller All Rights Reserved
(Do not copy or download)
"Soar High"
"No bird soars too high if she soars with her own wings." ~unknown
I changed the wording of this quote, instead of "he" and "his", I changed it to "she" and "her". Just sounded better to me, since I am not a he nor a his! LOL
Background: Neo II's
Border: Images from www.teeshamoore.com , www.tuscanrose.com (bird-in lower right corner), magazine tid bits, decorative paper, handmade paper and personal images from my own art.
Main Image: Hat-made from decorative paper and paint pens.
Body: magazine tidbits and handmade arm/hand.
Legs: Magazine tid bit.
Words: Magazine letters, vintage labels.
Details: added with colored pencils, paint pens and other various pens.
I had another art piece that I finished previous to this one but I had added a detail...an image of a bird that overlaps one of the top corners and having a hard time scanning it in...scan bed too small....I may have to photograph it....and y'all know how bad I take photos LOL
The weekend was nice and quiet...got two art pieces done amongst doing laundry and baking homemade cinny rolls! **grin** Hubby was home for the weekend and spent most of his time sleeping or lounging around, so not much to talk about here! lol I was kind of a crabby bum and pretty much stayed to myself as to not make everyone else a crab! lol
Tomorrow my oldest daughter has another ob/gyn appt. The appts are now two weeks apart and she now has to take medication to stop labor contractions. I guess that little granddaughter of mine just can't wait to get out into the world! Be good little one and wait awhile, your birthday will come soon enough. Your poor grandma is getting grayer by the minute! LOL Amira's due date is October 6th....hang in their baby girl! xoxo We are all hoping to have our daughter induced approx. 2 weeks earlier than her due date....being that Amira doesn't want to wait lol and plus my Hubby can be home for this blessed event! He wasn't able to be at the birth of our first grandchild.
Plus, we will have a pleasant visitor during the birthing of our second grandchild...Just recently we received some interesting news...My Hubby has another child...a daughter!!! Ya I know! What! His first marriage fell apart and they parted ways and his ex wife for some reason didn't tell my Hub that she was pregnant again! He had moved to California at that time. But his ex had hid all this from him and her daughter for 30 years and telling them both she had a different daddy!! She finally came clean and told her daughter and got to talk to her daddy for the first time and hit it off right off the bat! I am so happy for the both of them and Missy will be here for a week in September!! How cool is that!!?? And she had two children herself ...a boy and a girl! More grandkids! :O)
And more great news!! My hub got to talk to both of his half-sisters! Gosh our family sounds a mess! LOL But it is family and we love like nothing else! How exciting!!! I hope we get to see them soon also! I think I am going to need a huge dining table for the holidays! LMAO Well at least I won't have to worry about cooking more than I do...I already cook for an army!!! hee hee
Ok enough gabbing for while! I think I will go work on some more backgrounds and borders!!
Have a wonderful day!!!
Love and hugs,

Originality...

Copyright 2009 Nancy Baumiller All Rights Reserved (Do not copy or download for any reason)
"Originality"
"It is better to fail at originality than to succeed in imagination." ~Herman Melville
Created on 8.5" x 11" cardstock...
Background was created with Neo II watersoluable crayons
Border is made up of handmade papers, decorative papers, tid bits from a magazine scanned in and printed out and cut/trimmed and added color using 4 different colored pencils.
The body is cut from a magazine as so the face image and added different set of eyes from www.teeshamoore.com
Words were cut from a variety of places mostly magazines and copies of vintage labels that were printed out and cut/trimmed and added color here and there using colored pencils and Faber Castell pitt brush pens.
Added detail in shading done with colored pencils and doodle dots done with poster paint pens.
This was a really fun piece to do. It was actually done in two sessions...background and image placement was done last night and the glueing, shading and doodling were done today.
Hmmm...what should I cook tonight....maybe that chicken I have marinating in the fridge, some scalloped potato's and steamed fresh asparagus...ya...that sounds good.
Till next time!
Love and hugs,

More Art...

Copyright 2009 Nancy Baumiller All Rights Reserved
"Beautiful Things"
"The best and most beautiful things in the world cannot be seen nor touched but are felt in the heart." ~Helen Keller
Created on 8.5" x 11" cardstock...Watersoluable crayons (Neo II's) were used for the background in this piece and then lightly washed over with a baby wipe. I then added the border elements and the main image. I then spent alot of time shading with colored pencils and adding details and also with poster paint pens and other various pens. The quote was added...and more paper collage elements and more detail. I also did more shading to add depth and creating light in the piece. Those last two things(shading and adding light) are what I have been putting the most time and effort into and might I say tremendously fun!
I didn't really have much of anything today to get done as far as chores and the kids were out playing at a friends house, so I took time to myself and finished up this piece. Hopefully tonight when all is quiet I can start a third piece.
No other news to share at the moment. But I will tell you there is alot on my mind! LOL
Time for me to head to the kitchen and make some Chicken Fajita's! Who's hungry!? hee hee
Much love and hugs!!

New Art...

Copyright 2009 Nancy Baumiller All Rights Reserved
"Dance"
"Life is not about waiting for the storms to pass...It's about learning to dance in the rain." ~unknown~
Spent all day yesterday creating this piece! The base is 8.5" x 11" cardstock. Collage pieces came from Teesha-Moore , a small bit from Kawaii note paper, magazine clips, some from my own stash and then lots of doodling, shading with poster paint pens, colored pencils, oil pastels and other various pens. And some rubber stamped words.
The background started out with a bit of scribbling with Neo II watersoluable crayons and washed over with a baby wipe. The border was then added, along with the main image and the rest is explained above!
Working on another piece...nothing is ever planned when it comes to Zettiness for me...I just go with the flow and piece it together as it comes to me! I do enjoy many types of collage...like my previous pieces that were more vintagey, which is a very fun and fast paced process! I am sure I will do more of those in the future...I like to jump back and forth and also try new ways to create collages! I don't get bored that way! hee hee Or should I say I get bored easily! hmmmm LOL
Gotta run! A few errands to do! I would prefer to stay at home and do art, but got to keep a roof over our heads! LOL Not thrilled about going out and about...it is unusually cool outside for July! What's up with that?!

Weekend Art Journaling....

I created this art journal last year not sure if you remember my "Second Childhood" journal created with altered manilla folders? Maybe this will help! I really can't help when inspiration changes and how we all like to try new things in our art journals! Isn't that what their for after all?! That's what I thought! hee hee
For awhile now I have been saving all my favorite decorating magazine pages and not really knowing what to do with them and in hopes to some day utilize them in home decor...so I thought...why not paste them in my art journal so I know where they are and I can carry it when it comes time to shopping for items simular...and who's to say I can't add a little funky art to it?!
Why not!!! So I did! ;o)

On this page I added a dining room that I adored...I even added an old library pocket and altered a tag that I received in a swap awhile back, that has a handmade wire photo and letter holder and inserted the tag into the pocket! I like that! Up on the right top, that little reddish/orange rectangular piece is not very clear to view but I can tell you it has a kitty cat that I drew on it! lol Also added, decorative papers, a few paper collage pieces from Teesha !!
Which I don't know why, reminds me I need to show you soon a photo of how I organized all my papers....at least for the time being...since I am limited to storage space! One day I tell ya...I will have a studio again!! I do miss have the space to spread out and iffn I wanna leave the mess as is I will do as so! :OP hee hee Even if it only takes me 5 minutes to put it all away now! lol
The weekend was long and drawn out which is okay by me because my hub was home, I sure miss him here! And of course it rained once again this weekend! So we were all stuck in doors...everyone being lazy except for Mr. Get Into Everything Grandson Gabriel! LOL I swear he can tear up housekeeping in no time flat! lol Most everyone else was either watching a movie in their room, sleeping or like me creating in my art journal for a change! It was nice!
That is pretty much it for now!
Much love and hugs!

Blog awards! New Art and a late disintegration project

Hello! When I finally got home at 4PM EST after running myself crazy all over town, I opened my email to find that the lovely Shelly a very good friend of mine with an ornery sense of humor said she had an award on her blog for me! Thank you Shelly! Thank you for always being yourself and picking on me! Love you!
Now I need to give this award to 7 people...and you all must know just how hard it is to just pick 7! And of course I have to list 7 things or facts about myself!
7 awards for 7 lovely people!
Oh gosh! 7 things or facts about myself....ummmm welll
1. I don't like mixed drinks so much but I do like my beer and with green olives in it! I know yuck! I like the salt taste!
2. I would rather eat vegies raw or cooked for a late snack vs. sweet snacks. I wonder who stole my sweet tooth!
3. My morning ritual consists of a fresh cup of coffee and sitting at the computer to wake up. Bugs me when someone beats me to it and have to wait! LOL ***Pout***
4. I forgot what my pin number was today and had to drive for an hour to get to the nearest bank to reset it! Hell fire!! LOL This isn't the first time! :oP (shut up shelly I hear you laughing)
5. I don't eat breakfast.
6. It takes me forever and a day to get comfortable enough to get to sleep at night! I am such a fidget butt! I am sure it drives my husband mad! Oh wait! To late for that! Mwahhhhahahaha!
7. I am sure you don't want to know this but I can say, "Burp, Belch, B***h and Ribet" when I.... you guessed it....Burp! ***blushes***giggles***
Ok enough of this boohookie! LOL Onto some art!

"Light"

As to say...You can always find a little light in each day!

And then there is something hanging from my porch!

Look at those tree covered hills would you! Now look up! Not the sky silly...pretty yes...but there hanging with lots of paper and string! Ahh there ya go! Old papers new papers oh how delish it is! Oh yes and a tea bag...thought if those papers were going to get wet time to time it might like a spot of tea once in awhile! **Grin** Thanks to Seths past post of the "Disintegration Project" as I mentioned in my previous post that I was going to take a photo of it before the weather gets to it...and then later on ...I am thinking a month...we get quite a bit of rain, wind, humidy, and doesn't hurt on those hot sunny days to let the kids run amuck with squirt guns! HAHA I know that is cheating...But Hey! I didn't do it! lol

Off to make dinner....hmmm steak or porkchops???

Much love and hugs!

She Catches Only Good Dreams and Holds Them Tight...

Copyright 2009 Nancy Baumiller All Rights Reserved
"Dream Catcher"
As well all know dreamcatchers are made to catch bad dreams...This dream catcher happens to grab hold of the good dreams and keep them safe! I guess maybe she could be me in a sense...of holding on to my dreams and not letting go or giving up on them! :O)
Materials used: The base is a vintage childrens encycopedia cover then gessoed over and let dry. Then a layer of journaling, layers of vintage papers, vintage tissue dress pattern, tissue paper and then the image of the baby girl, ink, stenciling and oil pastels were used for the aged effect and if you look to the lower half of the piece behind the baby girl...I attempted (keyword lol) a gel medium transfer...let's just say it didn't turn out the way it was intended to. But it did however create a wonderful effect! When all this was finished I sat staring at it for a little while and thought how wonderful it would look with beeswax over all! So I am sure you can guess what I did! hee hee The feel of it is so yummy! The texture is awesome! Oh! and by the way no one in my family likes the smell of beeswax but me! LOL I told them...deal with it! **grin** I know what I am doing with this piece...you will see later on what it will be! ;O)
I have a few other pieces to show this week that I am pretty excited about! I think you will like them too! Maybe not...are you missing the Zettiness yet? lol Things are changing so quickly and evoloving into other things, ideas, dreams and showing themselves little by little! I am sure I will do more Zetti eventually....Right now I got to grasp this adventure by the horns and see where it takes me! You ever get that feeling that something is changing and just don't know what it is or what it will become? Well, this is one of those times! I must flow with it right?!
So how was everyone's 4th of July celebrations? I hope it was a happy and fun time for all of you! We were (except for I) pretty lazy! lol While preparing the feast I was also out you guessed er chester ...mowing the lawn...LOL I am actually starting to enjoy it and not such a big chicken anymore...although I did get one of the tires stuck in a hole ...and guess who just happened to be watching....my hubby! LOL I could just make out the grin on his face...just knowing he was laughing....so here I was rocking back and forth trying to get loose...ended up having to throw the thing in reverse to get out and start again! Sheesh!
I have this feeling I am supposed to get something done today and just can't put my finger on it...hate when that happens...I guess I better call my hub who once again is headed out of town and see if Mister Remembers Everything knows what it is! If it isn't anything I will mostly likely just shrug it off and do some more art! :O) Works for me!
And just how did I miss This post on Seth Apter's blog! So guess what I am doing?! I thought I would try it out for myself! I gathered paper from all over the house, newspaper, used envelopes, newsprint, vintage papers...and so much more...tied it up with twine! I love the way the papers look all gathered and tied with twine! Yum! Later today I am headed down to the shed to see what rusty treasures I can find to add to it! I am sure there are lots of goodies to be found in there! I will get a photo of it all later and show you how yummy these bundles are!
Off to call my hub and see what my lack of memory is forgetting! Nothing new! lol
Much Love and Hugs!

Always be true to yourself...

Copyright 2009 Nancy Baumiller All Rights Reserved "Be True" Created on 8.5" x 11" cardstock

Many layers of journaling, paper, stamping! If you look you can see that I layered some paper collage images behind everything and when finished with my final journaling, I then added more imagery to finish the piece!

Materials used: cardstock, gesso, various pens, rubberstamps, ink, stencils, tissue clothes pattern, red tissue paper, imagery from a variety of places, some are vintage, some not so much!

I love how this came all together and with a quote from Shakespear "To Thine Ownself Be True." This piece came about when someone mentioned in a way that some of my past work was depressing. I agree! There was alot going on and had got me down....and for me to write it all down and get it out of my head is my way of dealing with stress...yes some of the words they said was hurtful, but honest and I appreciate that. They also told me that I was being too honest in my work and would get a bad reputation! Really?! If any of you know me at all...My thoughts are that I really don't give a hoot what people think of me! LOL And I feel if I am not being honest with myself...who am I to be honest to?! Those words however, pulled me right out of my slump and pushed me to move on and get off my pity party. LOL So in a way it was a good push in the right direction! Sooo to that person, if your reading this...I am ok with it...thank you for being honest with your thoughts! But I will remain who I am and just be myself for me and no one else!

With that said....lol I am good to go from this point on! :O)

Wishing you a happy and creative day!

Much Love and Hugs!

xoxo
